!Our week of August 25th - August 29th

How cute are your children?  They are just as wonderful as could be and it's been so much fun for me getting to know your child's personality this week.  They all really seem to get along well and are very good sharers.

Each week in your child's blue binder is included a paper where I ask you to write comments or to give ideas for me as to how to help your child. I encourage you to comment as this is a help in understanding your student.

As for what we've been doing this week, here is a summary:

Language

We've read many books and have begun to use a Writer's Notebook.  The emphasis is that your child can be an author too!

We've reviewed the alphabet, and started to study our first color word - red!  We've done a worksheet on this also.

We've made our names with flanned letters on the felt board.  We've written two class stories (My name is...) and( My favorite color is..

We've sung songs which have been helpful in learning directions and meeting each other.

We are working on  our position words, through the use of a game,Where is Puppy?  We've played Simon Says to work with positional words also.

Math

We've been discovering all about small blocks, patterns, and sorting.  These are all very basic skills which we will continue to go over as they will be helpful in experiencing math concepts.

Social Studies/Cooking

For our snack this Thursday we made American flags in celebration  of Labor Day.

In our cooking class on Tuesday, we made  Kissing Hand cakes.

Happy Labor Day!

See you next Thursday night at Open House!!!!!!!!!
